Prosecutors say two men ‘knowingly and willfully’ used California-based company to evade export controls on AI chips.

Two Chinese citizens, Chuan Geng and Shiwei Yang, have been charged with illegally exporting advanced Nvidia AI chips to China through their California-based company, ALX Solutions Inc, from October 2022 to July 2025, violating US export controls. They face a maximum of 20 years in prison if convicted, with allegations of falsifying shipping documents and receiving payments from Chinese firms.
