In the first half of 2025, at least 652 children have died from malnutrition in Katsina, Nigeria, attributed to funding cuts from international donors amid ongoing insecurity, according to Doctors Without Borders. The World Food Programme also announced plans to suspend aid for 1.3 million people in northeastern Nigeria by July due to critical funding shortfalls, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
