Syria affirms state’s sole role in preserving sovereignty amid Suwayda unrest – Middle East Monitor

Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa emphasized that only the Syrian state can restore order in the southern province of Suwayda amidst recent unrest and clashes between armed Druze factions and Bedouin tribes, which were exacerbated by Israeli airstrikes. He called for adherence to a newly declared ceasefire, recognized the Druze community as vital to national stability, and expressed gratitude to international partners for their support.
