Jammu and Kashmir cops block Martyrs’ Day events at graveyard

Jammu and Kashmir police have prohibited public access to the July 13 Martyrs’ graveyard in Srinagar, continuing restrictions since the 2019 abrogation of Article 370, despite requests from local politicians to honor the martyrs. The National Conference criticized the decision as unjust, emphasizing that such measures cannot erase historical memory, while key political figures have faced house arrests leading up to the event.

Explain It To Me Like I’m 5: On a special day when people remember those who died for their rights in Kashmir, the police said no one could visit the graveyard to pay their respects, which made some people very sad and upset.
