Lakhs in Bihar may lose vote, ADR tells SC
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has filed a challenge in the Supreme Court against the Election Commission’s special intensive revision (SIR) of Bihar’s electoral rolls, claiming it risks disenfranchising many, especially marginalized communities. ADR argues that the SIR’s documentation requirements unfairly burden vulnerable populations, as essential documents like Aadhaar and ration cards are not accepted.

Explain It To Me Like I’m 5:

The Association for Democratic Reforms is asking the Supreme Court to help make sure everyone in Bihar can vote, because they think the new rules might make it hard for some people, especially those who need help the most, to register to vote.
