Violent extortion gang linked to Ontario towing turf war; many were on judicial release for other charges when arrested

Peel Regional Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah announced the arrests of 18 individuals linked to a violent criminal network in Brampton and Mississauga, which was involved in extortion, fraud, and other crimes connected to the tow truck industry. The investigation, dubbed Project Outsource, led to the seizure of over $4.2 million in assets, including 18 tow trucks and firearms, as authorities continue to address the crime wave targeting the South Asian community.
