A recent Leger Marketing poll reveals that 52% of Canadians do not believe they live on stolen Indigenous land, with rejection of this idea increasing with age; 41% of 18-24-year-olds agree they do live on stolen land compared to 15% of those 65 and older. Regional differences exist, particularly in urban versus rural areas, with Calgary showing the strongest rejection (69%), while Edmonton had the most acceptance (41%). Indigenous respondents are divided, with 53% affirming the statement, highlighting a broader societal divide in understanding Canada’s historical context regarding land ownership.
