A surprising power shift inside Hamas

A narrow tunnel in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, still emitted the odor of decomposing bodies and was partially obstructed by rubble from Israeli air strikes on May 13th. Israeli troops accessed the tunnel nearly four weeks later, discovering five bodies in a small underground room beneath the emergency ward of the European Hospital. On June 8th, one of the bodies was identified as Muhammad Sinwar, the military chief of Hamas.
