Beginning early Saturday, Israeli air strikes and gunfire resulted in the deaths of at least 65 Palestinians and injuries to around 100 in the Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian sources. On the second day of Eid al-Adha, a significant number of casualties occurred, including at least 15 people, among them six children, in strikes on residential areas, with ongoing rescue efforts indicating a potential rise in the death toll. This escalation is part of a larger context of violence that has claimed nearly 54,800 Palestinian lives since October 2023, amidst dire humanitarian conditions.
