Former Arkansas Police Chief Recaptured After Escape
A former police chief of Gateway, Arkansas, Grant Hardin, was recaptured nearly two weeks after escaping from prison, where he was serving a 30-year sentence for murder and a 50-year sentence for rape. Authorities apprehended him just 1.5 miles from the prison, using tracking dogs to follow his scent, and confirmed his identity through fingerprint analysis. Hardin had escaped wearing a disguise mimicking law enforcement, prompting a manhunt that included assistance from federal agents and Border Patrol’s elite Tactical Team.
