The parents of a 7-year-old boy named Legend, who was fatally struck by a car in Gastonia, North Carolina, have been charged with manslaughter and child neglect, remaining in jail on a $1.5 million bond. The incident occurred on May 27 while Legend and his brother were unsupervised and attempting to cross the street outside of a crosswalk. The 76-year-old driver of the Jeep Cherokee that hit the boy has not been charged, as there is no evidence of wrongdoing on her part, and the case is under active investigation.
