BBC team detained by Israeli forces in southern Syria

On May 9, 2025, a BBC Arabic team, including correspondent Feras Kilani, was detained by Israeli forces while reporting near Quneitra, Syria, close to the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. After being stopped and surrounded by soldiers, the team faced confiscation of their equipment and was subjected to extensive questioning, including invasive searches, threats, and intimidation, with their personal phones and laptops examined and many photos deleted. Following the incident, the BBC lodged a complaint with the Israeli military, seeking clarification and response about the treatment of its crew.
