A World War II pilot, Army Air Forces 1st Lt. Charles W. McCook, has been accounted for after being missing since his plane crash on August 3, 1943, during a bombing mission in Burma. McCook, who helped two fellow servicemen survive the crash by ensuring they could parachute to safety, was posthumously awarded the Air Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross. His remains were identified in 2022, and he will be buried in his hometown of Georgetown, Texas, in August 2025, with a rosette now placed next to his name on the Walls of the Missing.
