Cutty Sark DLR station in Greenwich, London, is set to close for nearly a year starting May 31 to install new escalators following ongoing issues that have persisted for nearly a decade, causing significant passenger frustration and even altercations. With over 7.6 million entries and exits in 2023, the station’s broken escalators have forced individuals to either use a single lift or climb 121 steps, leading to dangerous overcrowding and accessibility challenges for disabled passengers. TfL confirmed the £4 million repairs aim to address these long-standing problems and improve the station’s functionality.
