Jack Robinson from Australia emerged victorious in a thrilling men’s final at the Margaret River Pro, facing off against Hawaii’s two-time world champion John John Florence in a repeat of their showdown from the 2022 event.
Both Robinson and Florence showcased their exceptional surfing skills in the double-overhead waves, with Robinson securing a 9.10 and 8.17 for his impressive maneuvers, ultimately finishing with a total score of 17.27 to Florence’s 16.04.
The next stop for the world tour will be the challenging waves of Teahupo’o in Tahiti, where Robinson and Florence will be contenders for Olympic gold in the upcoming months.
Florence’s standout performance included a perfect 10 in the semifinals against George Pittar, while in the women’s final, Hawaiian surfer Gabriela Bryan triumphed over Californian rookie Sawyer Lindblad.
Both Bryan and Lindblad secured their positions for the remainder of the 2024 tour after navigating through tough competition at Margaret River.
The final four events of the world tour will see some top surfers missing out, including Kelly Slater and Sally Fitzgibbons.
