President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Excellency António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, discussed cooperation between the UAE and the United Nations, especially in the humanitarian field, and support for peace and development regionally and globally during a phone call today.

They also talked about various regional and international issues, including developments in the Middle East and the importance of containing tensions to prevent escalation, which poses a serious threat to the security and stability of the region and international peace. They called for restraint and prioritizing wisdom to avoid further conflicts that hinder cooperation and development efforts.

The President and the Secretary-General reviewed the situation in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the need for an immediate ceasefire to prevent humanitarian tragedies among civilians, ensure the flow of aid, and allow international organizations to carry out their humanitarian duties. They stressed the importance of moving towards a comprehensive and just peace based on the two-state solution for lasting security and stability in the region.

His Highness the President highlighted the UAE’s commitment to cooperating with the United Nations and other parties regionally and internationally to maintain peace in challenging regional circumstances.

António Guterres expressed his gratitude for the UAE’s support for peace and its significant humanitarian efforts, especially in providing aid to civilians in the Gaza Strip.
