Two NYPD detectives were placed on modified duty following revelations of their connections to a Manhattan townhouse where an Italian businessman was allegedly tortured by two crypto suspects over a bitcoin password. One detective, who had been working off-duty security for one of the suspects, transported the victim to the townhouse, where he was subjected to severe abuse before escaping. The detectives are under investigation for their employment with the suspects, while the accused, John Woeltz and William Duplessie, face serious charges including kidnapping and assault.
