The BBC gained rare access to French troops from the UN peacekeeping force Unifil in Lebanon, who are searching for Hezbollah positions used to attack Israel. A ceasefire agreement from November mandated Hezbollah’s withdrawal from southern Lebanon, while the Lebanese army would deploy thousands of soldiers and Israel would withdraw its troops. However, Unifil’s deputy spokesperson, Kandice Ardial, stated that violations are mainly from Israel, citing air strikes and drone infiltrations, which Lebanon claims breach its sovereignty and calls for international intervention to resolve the situation.
