Ximena Arias-Cristobal, a 19-year-old Georgia college student, was arrested due to mistaken identity and subsequently detained by ICE for her undocumented status. After spending two weeks in custody, she described the experience as “life-changing” and expressed fear during her detention, stating she is now permanently affected by it. Released on a $1,500 bond, Arias-Cristobal is ineligible for DACA protections, and the government intends to enforce her self-deportation to Mexico.
