Boeing reaches agreement in principle with DOJ to avoid prosecution over 737 Max crashes

Boeing has reached a preliminary agreement with the Department of Justice to avoid prosecution for the two fatal 737 Max crashes, which resulted in 346 deaths. The deal, pending judicial approval, requires Boeing to admit to conspiracy charges and pay over $1.1 billion, including compensation for victims’ families and investments in safety programs. However, lawyers for the victims’ families oppose the agreement, arguing it is an unprecedented non-prosecution deal for what they consider a significant corporate crime.
