David Parfett purchased a lethal substance online to understand how easily it could be obtained, after his son Tom, who struggled with mental health issues, ended his life in October 2021. Tom, seeking a painless and reliable suicide method, ordered the poison from a Canadian company run by Kenneth Law, who has since been arrested on multiple charges related to aiding suicide. Following Tom’s death, investigations revealed Law had sent over 1,200 suicide kits globally, prompting the National Crime Agency to investigate potential criminal offenses linked to numerous deaths in the UK.
