SINGAPORE has launched the Asia-Pacific Confederation against Drugs (APCD) to combat drug trafficking and abuse, with founding members including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Hong Kong. Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam emphasized the coalition’s goal of enhancing regional cooperation and addressing the rising global drug crisis, particularly synthetic drugs like fentanyl. Singapore remains committed to its stringent drug policies, advocating for a drug-free society despite global liberalization trends, highlighting the importance of public support and effective enforcement.
