Waymo, an autonomous taxi service owned by Alphabet, has recalled over 1,200 of its driverless cars due to software issues that caused collisions with roadway barriers such as chains and gates. The recall affects some of its 5th Generation Automated Driving Systems with software released before November 7, following reports of 16 minor crashes from 2022 to the end of last year, though no injuries were reported. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is investigating the vehicles for potential traffic law violations, similar to a previous Tesla recall for self-driving technology concerns.
