US man travels miles for help after 400-ft fall in Washington

A Seattle man survived a 400ft fall from a mountain that claimed the lives of his three climbing companions.

The accident occurred in the northern Cascade mountain range when the group, abseiling amidst an approaching storm, experienced anchor failure, resulting in a 400ft drop. The survivor, a 38-year-old man, trekked over 60 miles to call for help, despite sustaining internal injuries and a traumatic brain injury. The deceased were identified as Vishnu Irigireddy, Tim Nguyen, and Oleksander Martynenko, all from the Seattle area, with their bodies recovered via helicopter due to the difficult terrain.
