Historical interventions, economic sanctions, and the legacy of colonialism have contributed to the current migration crisis, yet the focus remains on punitive measures rather than solutions that promote sustainable development and safe migration pathways. Recognizing migration as a consequence of complex global dynamics is essential to prevent deepening humanitarian crises and rising racism while upholding democratic values.
