On May 9, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee emphasized the urgent need for humanitarian aid to reach Gaza, where aid has been largely cut off since March 2025, with President Trump advocating for its distribution under conditions that prevent Hamas from accessing it. This initiative coincides with Israel’s approval of a new military offensive aimed at long-term presence in Gaza, and while the US will not work directly with the IDF for aid delivery, it will seek partnerships with NGOs for logistics, initially targeting one million people, with plans to scale up. Huckabee noted that the aid distribution will not depend on a ceasefire but rather on the ability to deliver food safely into designated zones secured by the IDF.
