A Soviet space probe, Kosmos 482, launched on March 31, 1972, is nearing its end after 53 years in orbit, with potential re-entry to Earth imminent. Unlike previous Soviet attempts, Kosmos 482 broke into pieces, with parts that managed to survive re-entry hitting New Zealand, which raised concerns over radioactivity. As its orbit decays, there’s uncertainty about where it may land, with possible areas including parts of Canada and potentially near Venus, Texas, highlighting the unpredictable nature of space debris re-entry.
