Vladimir Putin has announced a three-day ceasefire in Ukraine to coincide with Russia’s 80th Victory Day celebrations, including a large military parade in Moscow attended by several global leaders, such as China’s Xi Jinping. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed the ceasefire as a tactical move to safeguard the parade rather than a genuine effort for peace, while Ukraine continues to disrupt preparations with drone attacks. The Kremlin views the attendance of foreign dignitaries as a sign of its diminishing isolation, but the ongoing conflict raises concerns over the safety of those visiting Russia.
