Lorry driver killed £1,000,000 stallion after crashing into horse transporter

Justin Bower, a 48-year-old lorry driver, was found guilty of dangerous driving that resulted in the death of four horses, including a prized stallion valued at over £1 million, after crashing his 7.5-tonne truck into a stationary horse transporter on the A9 near Perth in April 2021. The court sentenced him to a community payback order of 220 hours of unpaid work and a two-year driving ban, which will remain until he passes an extended driving test. Horse owner Nick Gauntlett, who was present during the incident, expressed his heartbreak over the loss of the animals, describing the day as devastating.
