Two Kashmiri shawl vendors were assaulted by local youths in Mussoorie, allegedly as “retribution” for a recent terror attack in Pahalgam. Following the incident, which was captured in a video showing the vendors being harassed, police arrested three assailants who later issued written apologies. Despite reassurances from authorities that the environment in Mussoorie remains safe for Kashmiri traders, 16 vendors have left the town due to safety concerns, leaving behind goods valued at approximately Rs 30 lakh.
