Former President Donald Trump suggested Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York as a potential papal candidate following Pope Francis’ death, humorously expressing a desire to be pope himself. Dolan, a traditionalist with conservative views, has a close relationship with Trump, having led prayers at both his inaugurations. However, experts view Dolan’s chances as slim due to his lack of a global perspective and the influence of Trump’s endorsement, which may deter support from the cardinals involved in the selection process.
