Gaza’s government has issued a severe warning that the population is “on the brink of mass death” due to widespread famine, exacerbated by Israel’s ongoing aid blockade now entering its 55th day, which has resulted in over 52 recorded deaths from hunger and malnutrition, including 50 children. More than 60,000 children are suffering from acute malnutrition, with over a million facing daily hunger, leading to severe health consequences. The government has called for the urgent opening of a humanitarian corridor and an independent investigation into the alleged crimes of starvation and slow killing attributed to Israel.
