According to a new survey from Leger Marketing and the Association of Canadian Studies, two-thirds of Canadians perceive relations between Liberal and Conservative supporters as poor, a sentiment consistent across all regions. The ongoing federal election campaign appears to be exacerbating this partisan divide, with older respondents expressing the most negative views. However, unlike in the U.S., cultural issues do not seem to be driving this division in Canada, as the Liberal and Conservative platforms show significant overlap, including promises of substantial spending and tax cuts.
