How does this make you feel?

Chris Goulding has concluded a remarkable three-point shooting season in the NBL by agreeing to a two-year contract extension with Melbourne United.

This extension comes as a positive development for the team, especially after losing Jo Lual-Acuil Jr for the upcoming season as he opted to explore opportunities abroad.

There is also a possibility of Ariel Hukporti leaving if he gets selected in the NBA Draft in July.

Captain Goulding still had one year remaining on his previous contract and will now remain with Melbourne until 2027.

“I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else,” expressed the 35-year-old player.

“This is our home, and we have been here for a long time, so my family and I are thrilled about the opportunity to stay with the club for two more years.”

Having won the NBL championship three times, Goulding was part of Melbourne’s title victories in 2018 and 2021 under coach Dean Vickerman.

Unfortunately, United fell short of a fourth championship last month when they were defeated by the Tasmania JackJumpers in the Championship Series.

“All I want to do is bring more success to the club,” Goulding emphasized.

“Being here with our fans and feeling their support is unbelievable.

“The way the club has us playing in front of sold-out crowds every week is everything a basketball player could wish for.”

Goulding made significant contributions throughout the 2023/24 season, setting multiple records.

He broke the record for the most three-pointers in a season in the 40-minute era, with 140 successful shots from beyond the arc.

Additionally, Goulding set records for the most three-pointers in a Championship Series (21) and the most points scored in all Championship Series games (63).

He currently ranks sixth in the league’s history for three-pointers made.

Melbourne has secured most of the roster that topped the regular-season standings with a 20-8 record.

Goulding is joined by Matthew Dellavedova, Shea Ili, Luke Travers, Kyle Bowen, Tanner Krebs, and Flynn Cameron on the team’s full roster.
