In recent years, a small number of Indonesian students have traveled to Israel for education, including at institutions like Ariel University in the occupied West Bank, despite Indonesia’s longstanding support for Palestinian rights and its lack of diplomatic relations with Israel. This engagement raises concerns about Indonesia’s credibility as a defender of Palestinian self-determination, suggesting hypocrisy in allowing citizens to benefit from Israeli institutions while publicly opposing the occupation. Ultimately, Indonesia should reconsider these exchanges and refuse normalization until Palestinians achieve full liberation, aligning actions with its stated values of justice and freedom.
