A 20-year-old man, Mazyar Azarbonyad, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving after injuring seven police officers during a pursuit on April 9, when he crashed his BMW while returning home from a date. The crash resulted in multiple damaged police vehicles and led to road closures near Newcastle, with the officers hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries. Azarbonyad, a personal trainer from County Durham, also admitted to several driving offenses, including driving without insurance and breaching bail conditions by driving again post-arrest.
