Calls for Democratic Rep. Chris Flanagan’s resignation have emerged from various officials following his arrest on federal fraud charges, where he pleaded not guilty to multiple counts, including wire fraud and falsifying records. While bipartisan calls for his resignation continue, House Speaker Ronald J. Mariano and other top leaders are adopting a wait-and-see approach, stating they will monitor the legal situation before taking action. Meanwhile, both Democratic and Republican leaders emphasize that Flanagan must decide whether he can continue to serve his constituents amidst these serious allegations.
