Former All Blacks team doctor John “Doc” Mayhew passed away after serving as the team doctor from 1988 to 2004, attending 131 tests and over 200 matches. Throughout his career, he also held roles with the Blues, New Zealand Warriors, and North Harbour Rugby Union, where he was made a life member in 2015. In 2016, Mayhew was recognized for his contributions to sports medicine with an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit appointment.
