In the past year, hundreds of engineering staff have been laid off and 270 have left for jobs overseas, according to the Association of Consulting and Engineering (ACE). ACE chief executive Helen Davidson believes the actual number of lost jobs in the sector is likely higher, as the report only includes data from 71 of the 270 engineering and consulting firms represented by ACE. Despite the job losses, most firms remain optimistic about the sectorโ€™s prospects.
