A rare early work by LS Lowry, titled Going to the Mill, is set to be auctioned after being in the Wallace family’s possession since 1926. Lowry initially sold the painting to Arthur Wallace, the literary editor of the Manchester Guardian, but later regretted the decision. The painting was featured in a supplement edited by Wallace for a civic week organized by Manchester city council, showcasing Lowry’s work during his struggling artist days.
