WorkSafe’s Energy Safety investigations in 2024 found Serene bathroom heater model S2068 to be unsafe, while models S207T and S2069 were deemed non-compliant with safety standards. Despite a compulsory recall, approximately 28,000 of these heaters are still in properties across the country, posing a significant risk to lives and property. Fire officials recommend using bathroom heaters briefly, inspecting for faults, and urge the public to stop using certain Serene heaters due to ongoing fire risk concerns.
