L.A. Fires Death Toll Rises to 30 After Remains Are Found

After nearly three months since the January wildfires in Los Angeles, human remains were discovered in Altadena, Calif., raising the total death toll to 30 from the Eaton and Palisades fires. The victims of the Eaton fire, which killed 18 people, were mostly older than 65, with an average age of 77. Los Angeles County officials are facing scrutiny over evacuation procedures, prompting the approval of a motion to develop a registry for evacuating vulnerable residents in emergencies.
