Danish PM heads to Greenland as Trump seeks control of the Arctic territory

Frederiksen plans to meet with incoming Greenlandic leader Jens-Frederik Nielsen and the future Naalakkersuisut to discuss cooperation and the territory’s eventual independence from Denmark, with the new government favoring a slower approach. The Trump administration’s aggressive stance on Greenland may push the territory closer to Denmark, as many Greenlanders do not trust the U.S. president’s intentions.
