Tourists and residents evacuated as volcano erupts in Iceland

Tourists and residents were evacuated as a volcano erupted in south-west Iceland, threatening the town of Grindavik and the popular Blue Lagoon spa. The eruption created a 1.2km long crack in the ground, with multiple earthquakes in the area. While most residents evacuated, some chose to stay despite the danger of lava flows entering the town.
