Venezuela is set to have its first female saint, Blessed María Carmen Rendiles, following approval from Pope Francis for her canonization. The founder of the Congregation of the Handmaids of Jesus, Rendiles was known for her exemplary Christian life despite physical challenges. A miracle attributed to her, the miraculous healing of a young woman with hydrocephalus, paved the way for her canonization, with a date yet to be set.
