India and Sri Lanka are preparing to sign a defence cooperation pact during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to the island nation from April 4 to 6, marking the first such agreement between the two countries. The pact, which was discussed during Sri Lankan President Aruna Kumar Dissanayake’s visit to India in December, will include navy-to-navy cooperation and training of Sri Lankan armed forces in India. The visit is expected to focus on promoting investments, deepening connectivity, and dedicating various projects built with Indian assistance in Sri Lanka, as both countries explore new areas of partnership and cooperation.
