The major road asphalting project in Ashburton, originally set to start on Sunday, will now begin on Friday due to weather delays. NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi has announced the resealing on State Highway 1 will run for around five weeks, mainly affecting night-time travel with 30-minute delays after 8pm and short delays during the day. The project will close SH1 from SH77 Moore St intersection to South St starting April 4, with local road detours for the first two stages and Stop/Go traffic control from 8pm to 6am for the last week.
