However, differences in food safety regulations, such as the requirement for fresh eggs to be sanitized and refrigerated in the U.S. but sold unwashed in the EU, make it challenging for foreign producers to meet American standards. As a result, any increased U.S. egg imports from Europe are more likely to be in powdered form or other processed products, rather than shell eggs.
