Defence ministry inks ₹2,500 cr deals for light vehicles and anti-tank weapons

The Indian defence ministry has awarded contracts worth ₹2,500 crore for new anti-tank weapons and light specialist vehicles for the Army, all to be manufactured domestically. The contracts include the production of a tracked version of the Nag Missile System by Armoured Vehicle Nigam Ltd, costing ₹1,801 crore, and the procurement of light specialist vehicles with a payload of 800 kg from Mahindra & Mahindra and Force Motors. These acquisitions are aimed at enhancing the operational readiness of the Army with advanced anti-tank weapon systems and vehicles designed for tough terrains.
