‘Khartoum is free,’ Sudan’s Burhan declares from presidential palace as RSF retreats

Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan returned to the presidential palace in Khartoum after the SAF regained control of the area and the city’s airport. The army has wrested near-complete control of the capital from the RSF, with Burhan declaring “Khartoum is free.” The SAF also launched an attack on Darfur, indicating a potential escalation in the conflict and threatening retaliation against Chad for supporting the RSF.
